Introducing N.A.M.H. Homes, Hostels & Schools 2: "Parnham"

Dr. Harris is a member of the Management Committee, and was formerly physician in charge of the Department of Psychiatry, Middlesex Hospital. A HOME for elderly people suffering from loss of memory and confusion was first opened by the N.A.M.H. in 1950. (At that time there was little being done outside the hospital for this special group, and many elderly people were admitted to mental hospitals because no other place could be found for them). This home was first instituted at Moor Place in Surrey and registered for the care of 24 men and women. In 1955 the work was transferred to a larger house, Parnham in Dorset, where 45 women residents can be taken. In Surrey most of the residents came from London and the Home Counties, and 19 transferred to the new home. Now they come from all over the country but as was to be expected our applications for
